Neighbors of actor and former professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson can no longer “smell what The Rock is cooking” near one home in Davie’s June Groves.
Johnson and ex-wife Dany Garcia Johnson sold their 8,321-square-foot home at 1782 S.W. 132nd Way to Arik Gonen and wife Oxana Coroluic for $1.18 million. Gonen is in the clothing business.
So, did The Rock “layeth the smacketh down” on the real estate market in Davie like he did on his opposition in World Wrestling Entertainment?
He bought the house brand new for $419,900 in 2000. He sold it for about $761,000 more than that. The Rock practically delivered the “people’s elbow” to the housing market.
The Game Plan and Faster star listed his current address in Beverly Hills, Calif. In July, he sold a condo in Pembroke Pines’ Century Village for $20,000. I’m guessing it was a friend or relative living in the retirement community, although it would be a great to see a movie with Johnson in a motorized scooter chase down the shuffleboard court.
The University of Miami football product hasn’t severed all of his ties to South Florida.
Johnson and his ex still own a house in Davie’s WestRidge development, another house in June Groves (about half the size of the one they sold) and a condo at Parker Tower in Hallandale Beach. They held a $4 million mortgage on two of their South Florida houses from Miami-based City National Bank of Florida.
The former couple has deep ties here. They sponsored the living room in the new alumni center at “The U.” Despite their breakup, the couple appear to be on good terms, even appearing on the red carpet together since the divorce.
