The Rock’s upcoming movie projects and busy schedule

More money means more sequels means more Jules Verne? According to THR, New Line is currently planning a follow-up for “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” a film that has already grossed more than $250 million at the global box office.

Although director Brad Peyton has signed on to — the presumably titled — “Journey: 3D” (no puns shall be lost here!) stars Vanessa Hudgens, Josh Hutcherson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have yet do so.

However, at this point, The Rock might as well be a sure thing, right? After all, the man has been discussing eight (eight!) potential films, all of which could happen between now and 2014 — and that’s not including his upcoming appearance at this summer’s Wrestlemania and leading role in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.”

Ahead, a look at Dwayne’s potential future slate of movies.

“Snitch”: The Rock stars alongside Susan Sarandon as a suburban father whose teenage son is sentenced to 30 years in jail for drugs.

“Pain and Gain”: This low budget Michael Bay movie (no, really), has The Rock starring as a bodybuilder caught up in an extortion and kidnapping scheme. Based on a true story, it’s set to hit theaters in 2013.

“Fast Six and Seven”: The Rock! Vin Diesel! Uh … Paul Walker! All three are set to return for the next chapter in the “Fast” franchise, which will be split into two parts. “Fast Six” currently has a May 24, 2013 release date.

“Hercules”: Johnson will play the mythological Greek hero in Brett Ratner’s upcoming film, which is based on the 2008 graphic novel “Hercules: The Thracian Wars.”

“Ciudad”: Also based on a graphic novel, this film finds the Rock starring as a black market mercenary hired by a drug lord to rescue his daughter.

“Empire State”: The Rock is negotiating to star alongside Liam Hemsworth in this film about a 1982 armored car company robbery.

“Journey 3″: Plot and cast are unknown. But, Rockie has to be coming back for this one. It’s not like he’s busy or anything.
