A few years ago, Vin Diesel and The Rock were considered the chief contenders in the battle for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s mantle as the movies’ mightiest action hero.

The two go head to head on Friday, with Diesel, 37, starring in Disney’s “The Pacifier” and The Rock, 32, among the starry ensemble supporting John Travolta in “Be Cool.”

At this juncture, The Rock has a decided edge, co-starring in a comedy with Uma Thurman, Cedric the Entertainer, Andre 3000 of Outkast and Steven Tyler. Continue reading »

Rock was scheduled at one point to film an episode of ?Will & Grace? this past week for May sweeps. Due to scheduling and having to promote ?Be Cool? it fell through. There were reports this past week about Rock playing the lead role in a ?Silver Surfer? movie. His reps met with Avi Arad (owner of Marvel Comics) recently and both sides were strong on the idea. LOS ANGELES — The Rock, who plays a gay bodyguard in “Be
Cool,” hopes he doesn’t land in hot water with the gay community.

The former pro wrestling king who became “The Scorpion King” says he
took the role in the action comedy, opening Friday, because he wanted to be

HOLLYWOOD — The role of Chili Palmer fits John Travolta like a glove. Chili
is the former Miami mobster turned Hollywood mogul who Elmore Leonard created in
his novel Get Shorty.

Leonard was so thrilled with the 1995 movie version of his novel, that
starred Travolta as the hit man who becomes a hit producer, that he wrote the
sequel Be Cool.

CENTURY CITY, Calif. ? He brought the other side to a shuddering halt as a
star defensive lineman for the University of Miami Hurricanes. In the wrestling
ring, he sent beefy adversaries hurtling through the ozone with such impressive
dispatch that he set a record as a six-time World Wrestling Federation Champion.
And when he moved over to the big screen, he brought mythic stature to the role
of The Scorpion King and was a formidable small-town sheriff in Walking Tall.

But The Rock, a.k.a Dwayne Johnson, admits that the acting job offered him in

The article goes on to mention how WWE mistakenly let the Rock’s contract end and how Vince McMahon is going to fix the situation at the earliest oppurtunity. It also mentions how WWE “dropped the ball” and McMahon’s apology to Rock.
The Rock has made no bones about being upset with the whole situation and has always expressed a desire to remain with the company in some capacity. That being said, there is still a possibility that we will see the Rock appear at WrestleMania 21 given that both sides seemingly want to resolve the issue.
