When Rock was at the Espys(he and Serena Williams presented the best male athlete of the year to Lance Armstrong), he was backstage with tons of press from all the networks and major international press. After being asked movie questions and the like, what was described as ?an obscure out of place reporter? asked, ?What do you think of the Matt Hardy/Edge situation?? Rock started laughing hard while he no doubt was also stalling to come up with something to say, being that probably nobody else in the room but he and the reporter would have a clue what they were talking about. Finally he said, ?Well, just like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, I know them both and want the best for all of them, but at the end of the day….we?re all pretty much too busy to give a shit Everyone around laughed when it was over
They aired the trailer of ?Doom? with Rock for the first time in a public setting. Among the audience there, it got over great. However, even though they haven?t seen it, apparently the movie is being roundly criticized by hardcore gamers because of a belief of lack of authenticity?..
Another loss of income to the WWE is no longer having Rock under contract, as the company earned $2.2 million in 2003-2004 fiscal years from executive producer fees on Rock movies that year
