The latest film from “Donnie Darko” director Richard Kelly has found a theatrical distributor despite a drubbing from critics in Cannes.

On board the delayed The Rock comedy
Source: Variety
Despite having its start date thrown back to later in the year by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s recent injury, Disney’s comedy The Game Plan is still on track – and continues to score talent.
Bebe Neuwirth – best known for playing Frasier Crane’s frosty ex – and Morris Chestnut, last seen in The Cave, have signed on. Neuwirth will play Johnson’s no doubt spiky agent while Chestnut will appear as a fellow American footballer.
Directed by Andy Fickman, the film will see Johnson’s character discover he has a daughter, and how that impacts his career. Expect them to kick off as soon as The Rock’s off the crutches.
Thanks to Janine @ VinXperience, Rae, Jane, and number of others who sent in the breaking news i really appreciate it!
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – A leg injury suffered by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is forcing Walt Disney Pictures to write a whole new playbook for its family football comedy, “The Game Plan.”
Johnson ruptured an Achilles tendon on Monday during a football practice in preparation for his upcoming role as a professional quarterback in the movie, which was previously known as “Daddy’s Girl.” Continue reading »
Wrestler-turned-thespian Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, currently working on his new movie “The Game Plan,” took in the Royal Ballet’s performance of “Manon” last night at the Wang Center, accompanied by his wife Dany, the film’s d irector Andy Fickman and co-stars Madison Pettis and Roselyn Sanchez.
The Rock plays an NFL quarterback who learns he has a 7-year-old daughter (Pettis) and takes up her passion — ballet. The Rock and Pettis have been taking lessons with the film’s choreographer Mary Ann Kellogg, who works out of the Boston Ballet’s studios in the South End.
“They’ve been kicking my ass and it’s been awesome,” The Rock said.

Comedian Lenny Clarke has landed a gig in “The Game Plan,” playing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s doorman in the Disney football flick. Clarke’s role was originally just a cameo, but director Andy Fickman liked Lenny so much he could get some serious screen time. In the movie, which begins shooting here shortly, “The Rock” plays a hotshot QB for a fictional football franchise — the Boston Rebels — who wakes up one morning to Continue reading »
Roselyn Sanchez will star opposite Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in The Game Plan for Walt Disney Pictures.
The family comedy centers on a professional quarterback accustomed to the bachelor lifestyle who discovers he has a 7-year-old daughter after an ex-girlfriend dies. Sanchez will play the child’s ballet teacher who naturally becomes The Rock’s love interest. Shooting begins June 26th in Boston.
Sanchez’s previous credits include Rush Hour 2 with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. She is expected to reprise her role for the third film in the action-comedy franchise
Casting about for fans to cheer on The Rock
They’re looking for “hundreds of extras” to play sports fans in the new Disney film “The Game Plan,” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Boston Casting will hold an open call on June 17 for those older than 18 who are available for eight days of shooting in July, some of it at Boston College’s Alumni Stadium. The film is about a pro quarterback (The Rock) living the bachelor life when he discovers he has a 7-year-old daughter. The movie was previously called “Daddy’s Little Girl,” until it was changed to “The Game Plan” last week. Another film, by writer-producer-director Tyler Perry, is using the name “Daddy’s Little Girl” (as have eight previous films). Perry’s film stars Gabrielle Union and Louis Gossett Jr.
Congratulations Sabrina you are our February 2012 DJ fan of the month!
This is why she is Dwayne Fan of The Month:
‘I have been a fan of The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, since i have been 9 years old. Now being 24, i have grown to appreciate and look up to him not only as a role model , but as someone that i consider a HUGE influence of who i am today. I used to go to RAW and Smackdown as a young girl, crying over just being in the same room as him. My family would know to buy my only his merchandise for holidays and special events. To this day, people still admire me for my dedication as a fan, and my willingness to one day meet him in person. I dont even know what i would do if i did, i know someone would have to catch me when i fall, becuase i know i would be hitting the floor!”
