With the hook up from uber publicist Roz Stevenson, EUR had a chance to view the upcoming film “The Gridiron Gang” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and rapper/actor Xzibit. The two play juvenile detention camp probation officers. The screening was held Tuesday evening at the Mann Chinese 6 complex in Hollywood.We have to admit that prior to going to the screening, we had no real idea of what the movie was about. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wasn’t the best student growing up. He was first arrested at 13 and by the time he turned 17, he’d been arrested nine times.
He was promoting Dallas After-School All-Stars, an initiative that combines fun and learning after the school day – with the goal of keeping children safe.
“I made a lot of bad decisions,” Mr. Johnson, national spokesman for After-School All-Stars, told the students.
“I thought I knew everything; I didn’t know anything.”
Dallas After-School All-Stars, which recently united with the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, has served about 8,600 kids since its launch in 2001. Continue reading »

The Rock, a former pro wrestler, is the national spokesman for After-School All-Stars. The initiative focuses on keeping kids safe while engaging them in activities to increase confidence and encourage success. That evening, after visiting the school, The Rock is scheduled to appear at a premiere of his new movie, Gridiron Gang, according to DISD.

Now being 24, i have grown to appreciate and look up to him not only as a role model , but as someone that i consider a HUGE influence of who i am today. I used to go to RAW and Smackdown as a young girl, crying over just being in the same room as him. My family would know to buy my only his merchandise for holidays and special events. To this day, people still admire me for my dedication as a fan, and my willingness to one day meet him in person. I dont even know what i would do if i did, i know someone would have to catch me when i fall, becuase i know i would be hitting the floor!”
