So what was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s payback for delaying the filming of “The Game Plan” for three months? The Hollywood he-man spent the first day of shooting clad in green ballet tights!”This scene we’re going to shoot today, I’m in a green one-piece leotard and the straps go under my belly button,” Johnson told the Track outside the Cutler Majestic Theater. “So it’s going to look like the most ludicrously ridiculous thing you could ever envision me in. It’s so freakin’ sexy!”
Whatever would the “Gridiron Gang” say????
As you are all too aware by now, Dwayne plays Boston Rebels quarterback Joe King whose playboy lifestyle is cut short when his 7-year-old daughter he never knew shows up at his door.
“The story line of his football career sort of parallels his daughter’s ballet,” explained Mark Ciardi, who is producing the Disney film with Gordon Gray.
“(Today’s scene) is right before Joe King goes on stage for his ballet debut with his daughter,” Gray added. “Peyton (played by the ever-adorable Madison Pettis) gets a little stage fright, and Joe gives her a sports talk.”
Off-camera, Pettis told us that working with Johnson is “really fun.” And he’s such a cool movie dad to have, he brought her Dunkin’ Donuts yesterday morning!
Filming started in the Hub yesterday nearly three months to the day Johnson underwent surgery for a torn Achilles tendon. Back in June, The Rock went down in a heap on a football field in Medford as he practiced his football moves with his on-screen teammates.
The movie also stars “The Closer” gal Kyra Sedgwick as King’s agent, Gordon Clapp, late of “NYPD Blue,” as the football coach, and Roselyn Sanchez as the owner of an elite ballet school and King’s love interest.
“It’s great to be back on track here,” Ciardi said. “It actually works out better for us because we’re supposed to be shooting winter months.”
Obviously, the filmmakers are unaware of our taste of winter in June and August!
Earlier in the weekend, “The Game Plan” cast and crew officially kicked off their Boston shoot by partying at Felt on Washington Street. Johnson, along with Pettis, Sanchez, Clapp and the flick’s footballers Jamal Duff, Hayes McArthur, Morris Chestnut and local kid Brian White partied, played pool and renewed friendships that began in June when the Rock was sidelined.
At the bash, Pettis’ mom, Michelle, was overheard telling her very underage daughter: “Take a good look around. You won’t see the inside of another nightclub until you’re 18!”
Well, that’s Michelle’s Game Plan anyway!
We hear that old political nemeses Kevin White and Peter Lucas came face-to-face at ex-Gov. Ed King’s memorial service the other day and proved that, like elephants, Boston pols never forget!
White, you may recall, really put the wood to Lucas, an ex-Herald-American reporter, back in the ’80s – leaking him an exclusive “scoop” that he would run for re-election as mayor of Boston.
The paper blasted a “White Will Run” headline the next day, and White promptly announced his retirement from politics. Ouch!
Flash forward to this past Friday, Lucas – who now works for the MBTA – and ex-state Treasurer Bob Crane were paying their respects to King when they came upon White and his handler, George Regan.
“You remember Peter,” Crane said to White. “Maybe you want to give him another story?”
D’oh!
