Dwayne Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson and are joining the Columbia Pictures comedy “The Other Guys.”Johnson and Jackson will play super cops in the pic helmed by Adam McKay. Coogan is set as the villain.The thesps join stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. “Other Guys” is set to bow Aug. 6.

Johnson and Jackson will play an elite cop tandem whose exploits are the envy of the department and the second-tier fellow cops played by Ferrell and Wahlberg.

Scripted by Chris Henchy and McKay, the film is a co-production between Gary Sanchez Prods. and Mosaic.

Johnson is the lead voice in the upcoming Sony animated pic “Planet 51,” and next stars in the Fox comedy “Tooth Fairy.” Jackson just wrapped “Iron Man 2.” Coogan is coming off “Night At the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” and is filming “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.”

Johnson and Coogan are repped by UTA, Jackson by ICM and Anonymous Content.

Plot: Set in New York City, “The Other Guys” follows Detective Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell), a forensic accountant who’s more interested in paperwork than hitting the streets, and Detective Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg), who has been stuck with Allen as his partner ever since an embarrassing public incident with his quick trigger finger. Allen and Terry idolize the city’s top cops, Danson and Manzetti (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson), but when an opportunity arises for the Other Guys to step up, things don’t quite go as planned
