“Better late than never,” might be Shia LaBeouf’s motto. In the past few weeks, in two separate interviews, the actor has owned up to starring in movies that suck — specifically Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Transformers 2.
Then there’s Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson on the video-game-turned-movie Doom. “Our goal with Doom was not only to appeal to its audience, but maybe break out into the sci-fi or thriller genres,” he told MTV News. “That just didn’t happen for us. It always just comes down to writing and material.”
Dwayne Johnson, 38, achieved fame in the 1990s as the professional wrestler known as The Rock. He later turned to acting, starring in Hollywood films including The Mummy Returns, Be Cool and Get Smart. He sports a tutu for his role in new film Tooth Fairy.
Your biceps are bigger than my thighs. Can I ask what you ate for lunch?
I had some chicken. I generally bring my own meals with me. I have someone great who prepares very detailed food.
Such as?
I generally eat clean. I don’t eat fried food or fast food or anything like that. I was raised in that environment from an early age. I think if you never really had it, you don’t know what you’re missing.
Isn’t pizza your cheat item?
It is. I love pizza. Sure. That’s my thing.
You worked with Julie Andrews and Stephen Merchant in Tooth Fairy. Do you have a particular fondness for Brits?
I definitely do for this movie. I enjoyed working with Stephen Merchant. He was wonderful. I’ve been such a big fan of his acting. I had no idea he was Ricky Gervais’s writing partner and responsible for a lot of the shows they had written. I specifically wanted Stephen because he was so talented in Extras and I thought the physical juxtaposition between he and I would be funny on screen. Then, of course, I came to find out he’s incredibly brilliant and talented. And Julie Andrews was amazing. A beautiful, beautiful woman. Continue reading »

Dwayne Johnson has a fan in Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard, or at least his elbow does. Orlando Sentinel
Back in the day when I watched wrestling, I loved Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock. “It doesn’t matter what you think Jabroni!” was one of his signature tag lines. “The People’s Elbow” was his signature move.
I am feeling The Rock during the NBA playoffs. Dwight Howard is bringing the power and the pain.
Kevin Garnett and Glen “Big Baby” Davis have all felt the sting. Big Baby in particular felt the woozy blur, wobbling over to the scorer’s table after taking a shot from Howard in Orlando’s 113-92 victory Wednesday night.
After whacking just about every Celtic on the roster, Howard has made it very clear that this series is all about playoff basketball. Physical, capital P.
“I didn’t know that was legal,” but anyway, he did,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. “But listen, he’s a physical guy. We know that, and he should be. That is his gift.” Continue reading »
Dwayne Johnson claims he doesn’t care if his movies flop because he likes to try his hand at many different genres of film.Dwayne Johnson doesn’t mind if his movies flop. The wrestler-turned-actor – whose new movie ‘Tooth Fairy’ opposite Julie Andrews is released on May 28 in the UK – claims he doesn’t mind if people slate his movie choices because he only ever does what he wants to.
He said: “I don’t want to be just that guy, who only does those kinds of movies. I want to strike out and try everything. And it’s okay if it doesn’t work every time – I’d be incredibly lucky if they did, especially given the range I’ve been trying – but I’m always so glad that I got the chance to push myself in a different direction, in a different genre. Since we are playing “catch-up” I have added 10+ candids and promo pics of Dwayne hosting SNL last March to the photo galleries
Tough guy DWAYNE ‘THE ROCK’ JOHNSON showed off his song and dance skills on Saturday night (08Mar09) as the host of U.S. comedy show SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. The former wrestler opened the show by addressing suggestions Hollywood had softened him, and then broke into a glitzy cabaret routine to poke fun at himself.
At one point, dancers ripped off his suit to reveal Johnson’s ripped and tattooed arms and chest, covered only by a waistcoat. He performed a Chicago-style routine before introducing his “choreographer-slash-roommate” Lee, played by SNL, regular Fred Armisen, who stepped up to Johnson, pounded on his chest and yelled, “You brute, you brute”.
Later in the show, Johnson became President Barack Obama’s angry, “stronger and more impulsive” alter-ego, The Rock Obama, for a skit in which the beefed-up U.S. leader dispensed opposing senators by throwing them out of an Oval Office window. He also play Continue reading »
I thought this would be a funny tidbit. According to Female First Dwayne kept some souvenirs from his movie the “Tooth Fairy”:
Dwayne Johnson has revealed that he kept a few mementos from his Tooth Fairy shoot.
The wrestler turned actor admits that he kept the pink tutu and ballet slippers from the family comedy movie. Speaking to The Press Association the actor said: “I did keep the outfit, you have to keep the pink tutu… because visually it just looks so absurd, size 14 pink ballet slippers, so I do have those.”
Johnson takes on the role of Derek Thompson who, after discourages a youngster’s hopes, he’s sentenced to one week’s hard labour as a real tooth fairy. The movie has an impressive lineup for Billy Crystal, Ashley Judd and Julie Andrews, who Johnson admits she was ‘magical’ to work with.. “It was such an honour to work with Julie Andrews. We had all grown up with her movies and her performances and the one thing that has always resonated and moved me, is the magic that she is masterful at.
“Her voice, her acting, her writing is incredible and it’s so passionate, and wonderful and inspiring as it relates to children.”The great thing about Julie Andrews is, as brilliant and as successful as she is, to watch her on set and making everyone feel very very comfortable, was really magical.”
He added: “That’s the mark of somebody special. I love that woman, I love Julie.”
Dwayne Johnson may be big and tough, but in the fabulous new family film Tooth Fairy, the magnetic actor finds himself transformed into a tooth fairy… with wings and a wand.
Johnson stars as ice hockey player Derek Thompson who has lost faith in himself and in everyone else. A good man at heart but nursing disappointments of his own, he dashes the hopes and dreams of children with discouraging words. As punishment, he is sentenced by Chief Tooth Fairy Julie Andrews to work as one of her minions, a task which turns out to be harder than he ever imagined. But it’s also a life-changing experience.
Our exclusive interview sees the action star and former ‘People’s Champion’discussing donning ice skates and a tutu, working with Julie Andrews and keeping his physique.
Children all over the world will now see you as ‘the Tooth Fairy’, is that a big responsibility?
It is, I have to be honest with you. It is a massive responsibility that very few men would ever dare to take on. I’m The Tooth Fairy with wings so I am a man and a half (laughs). It is very exciting for me because we have an opportunity to present something to the world that audiences have never seen before in a movie. I think children everywhere will relate to the story because every culture has its own version of the tooth fairy. Continue reading »
The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) interview for Tooth Fairy with movies.ie
It’s been a while since The Rock has made a movie that, well, rocks. Paul Byrne talks to the soft, cuddly star of this week’s Tooth Fairy… Compared to most musclebound, meat-head actors out there, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has always had something of an edge. Maybe it’s his readiness to poke a little fun at himself – a crucial ingredient for any World Wrestling Federation contender. Or the fact that he can actually act. Whatever the reason, from the moment he stepped away from the ring and onto multiplex screens, The Rock had the makings of a box-office wizard, a true star.
It was there in The Scorpion King (2002), The Rock getting a leading role for his Mathayus character after just about stealing the show from Brendan Fraser the previous year in The Mummy Returns. The year after his leading man debut, The Rock delivered the fine chase movie Welcome To The Jungle, and the year after that, he gave us a solid, and comical, remake of the 1973 revenge thriller Walking Tall. Heck, this guy even managed to make 2005′s Travolta travesty Be Cool almost worth watching. That woeful Get Shorty sequel seemed to herald in a run of very bad luck for Johnson though, as flop after flop began to pile up. Southland Tales followed Doom. Reno 911!: Miami followed Gridiron Gang. Continue reading »
On the red carpet interviewed Dwayne via satellite in promotion of “Racing Dreams” a film he produced along with Dany Gracia. The Dancing With the Stars two-part finale will be airing May 24 and 25 and actor Dwayne Johnson, aka “The Rock”, may be watching closely to see who wins the mirror ball trophy.
He told On The Red Carpet he enjoyed the show but probably wouldn’t compete himself, saying: “Here’s the thing, I’m already a great dancer, I don’t have to prove it. They call me Twinkle Toes, they call me Rock Twinkle Toes.”
Johnson made his comments to On The Red Carpet’s Chris Balish in a recent satellite interview to promote his documentary Racing Dreams, which tells of three children who dream of becoming NASCAR racers.
The actor is also very familiar with judge Carrie Ann Inaba.v”She was my choreographer, we did pretty cool dancing for Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Awards,” he said. “She was great, I love her.”

According to pwinsider Rock will not host Raw on June 7th. No other dates have be mentioned:
The 6/7 edition of Raw in Miami, Florida will not be hosted by Dwayne Johnson. I reported several months back the company was trying to work out a Johnson return for that Raw, which will be the company’s next three hour edition. – Mike Johnson
Congratulations Sabrina you are our February 2012 DJ fan of the month!
This is why she is Dwayne Fan of The Month:
‘I have been a fan of The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, since i have been 9 years old. Now being 24, i have grown to appreciate and look up to him not only as a role model , but as someone that i consider a HUGE influence of who i am today. I used to go to RAW and Smackdown as a young girl, crying over just being in the same room as him. My family would know to buy my only his merchandise for holidays and special events. To this day, people still admire me for my dedication as a fan, and my willingness to one day meet him in person. I dont even know what i would do if i did, i know someone would have to catch me when i fall, becuase i know i would be hitting the floor!”
