Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has come forward to explain his intentions behind the Jon M. Chu directed sequel G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes. Dwayne Johnson, also known to some as “The Rock”, recently joined this new adventure as Roadblock. As Lorenzo di Bonaventura tells it, this new addition to theatrical franchise will be one of the movie’s two lead characters.
“It’s a full-on lead role. In a way, he and Snake-Eyes, their stories are really dynamic and very important. (Dwayne Johnson) is such a great character to have in ‘G.I. Joe 2.’ It’s an amazing combination. We would not be very good if we didn’t fully utilize him, so he’s going to have a lot of things to do. It is an ensemble movie, so you have other characters certainly playing it out.” Continue reading »

Apparently Randy Orton did an interview in speaking to the Arizona-based KUPD radio and had some things to say about The Rock:
Orton also targeted The Rock, whom he criticized in an interview this spring. Orton reiterated his disapproval over The Rock’s seemingly-hollow claims that he was never going to leave again before expressing dissatisfaction with how Rock responded to the remarks. Instead of discussing his anger with Orton personally, The Rock allegedly called into the WWE office to complain that Orton gave an interview burying The Rock and Triple H (Orton contends he did not bury Triple H and that Rock simply threw his name into the mix to make noise). According to Orton, John Laurinaitis subsequently relayed management’s dissatisfaction with the remarks.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has taken to his official Twitter page to respond to CM Punk’s unscripted promo from this past week’s edition of WWE RAW, part of which included Punk saying that Rock vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 28 as the main event makes him sick:
“CM Punk: it’s simple business – The Rock is the main event at Wrestlemania cause it draws more money in one night, then u will in lifetime.”
If you didn’t catch what CM Punk said about The Rock read below:
After the match, Punk takes a mic and has a seat at the top of the ramp. Punk is wearing a Steve Austin t-shirt. Punk says before he leaves, he has some things he wants to get off his chest. Punk says he doesn’t hate Cena, he actually likes him more than most people in the back. Punk hates the idea that Cena is the best, because he’s not. Punk says he’s the best, the best in the world. Punk says Cena is better than one thing – kissing Vince McMahon’s ass. Punk says Cena is as good at kissing Vince’s ass than Hulk Hogan was. Punk also brings up The Rock being Vince’s ass kisser. Punk says he is the best wrestler in the world and has been since day 1 of walking into this company. Punk brings up how Paul Heyman saw something in him. Punk says yea, I’m a Heyman guy. Punk says Brock Lesnar was also a Heyman guy and he left. Punk says the difference is, he’s leaving with the WWE Title. Continue reading »

With “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ only a few months away, the combined powers of Team Edward and Team Jacob are still demolishing the competition in awards shows and this year’s Teen Choice Awards appear to be no different.
The nominees are out for the late summer celebration of movies, TV and music, with “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” leading the wolf pack with 12 nominations including, Choice Fantasy Movie Actor (for both Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson), Choice Fantasy Actress for Kristen Stewart and Choice Fantasy Movie.

Rapper-turned-actor RZA (Wu-tang) and D.J. Cotrona, best known as one of the cast members of TV’s Detroit 1-8-7, are in negotiations to board Paramount’s new G.I. Joe movie being directed by Jon Chu.
Other than Channing Tatum, the Lorenzo di Bonaventura-produced action movie is coming back with a whole new cast with Dwayne Johnson and Elodie Yung among the newcomers to the franchise.
Cotrona will play Flint, a Joe soldier best known in the toyline and 1980s comics for his shotgun and beret.
RZA will play a martial arts master named the Blind Master who in the past trained Joe commandoes Snake-Eyes and Jinx (Yung).
Cotrona, repped by UTA and the Schiff Company, appeared in 2010’s weepie Dear John with Tatum and also starred in NBC’s short-lived drama Windfall.
RZA’s credits include American Gangster, The Next Three Days and Repo Men, and stars as the title characters in The Man with the Iron Fists with Russell Crowe. He is repped by ICM and Joe Carlone management.
Earlier this month we heard that Paramount were in discussions with Dwayne Johnson (Fast Five) to join G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes as a character called Roadblock, and now the actor has tweeted to confirm he’ll be part of the movie.
“It’s official: Call the Pentagon, get me my big ass gun – Rocks a JOE!” -DJ
Wikipedia states Roadblock’s “primary function in G.I. Joe is as a heavy machine gunner and a secondary function as a cook.” The character is also the cousin of Heavy Duty, who was played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the script for the sequel, and Jon M. Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Step Up 3D) will be in the directors chair when filming begins later this year. Paramount have set the release date for August 10th, 2012, however with Star Trek 2 unlikely to meets it’s June 2012 release the studio may give G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes that slot instead.
In the last weekend of April, Fast Five opened to a huge $86.2 million, ensuring that we would see a sixth entry in the Fast and Furious franchise sooner as opposed to later, particularly given that star Vin Diesel and producer Neal H. Moritz have publicly stated their intent to continue vigorously milking this cash cow. Universal Studios has announced a release date for as-yet untitled Fast and Furious 6, so presuming we survive the imminent Mayan apocalypse, we can look forward to more automotive mayhem on May 24, 2013.
Variety reports that director Justin Lin is set to return, along with stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Dwayne Johnson. The status of planned spin-off for Johnson’s character, Hobbs, is unknown. Just after the last installment’s big opening, Lin made it clear that he would be back for another round, saying, “After this big weekend, we’re going forward,” assuring a concerned moviegoing public, “It’s pretty much 100 percent. It’s going to happen.”
He also said that the action would shift to a new global location, after Fast Five took place in Rio de Janeiro.
Additionally, Universal signed Fast Five screenwriter Chris Morgan to a two year contract that will include another Fast sequel. Of course, all of this is no surprise, since the last film included a post-credits scene clearly laying out a narrative direction for the continued adventures of Dom, Brian, Mia, Hobbs, and the whole gang. Now, though, we can all circle May 24, 2013 on our calendars.
Congratulations Sabrina you are our February 2012 DJ fan of the month!
This is why she is Dwayne Fan of The Month:
‘I have been a fan of The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, since i have been 9 years old. Now being 24, i have grown to appreciate and look up to him not only as a role model , but as someone that i consider a HUGE influence of who i am today. I used to go to RAW and Smackdown as a young girl, crying over just being in the same room as him. My family would know to buy my only his merchandise for holidays and special events. To this day, people still admire me for my dedication as a fan, and my willingness to one day meet him in person. I dont even know what i would do if i did, i know someone would have to catch me when i fall, becuase i know i would be hitting the floor!”
