THQ Inc. today announced new details surrounding the company’s pre-order retail incentive programs in the United States and Canada for WWE® 12, the forthcoming release from the renowned WWE flagship videogame franchise. Often touted as “the most electrifying man in all of entertainment,” legendary WWE Superstar The Rock will be available as a playable character for consumers who pre-order the game at any participating retailer within the United States or Canada for the Xbox® 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft or PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system (while supplies last). The Rock’s in-game character will resemble his current-day appearance, including a shaved head and new tattoos.
In addition, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system owners who pre-order the game at GameStop in the United States or EB Games in Canada will receive bonus attire for WWE Superstar The Miz (while supplies last). Hailed as the “must-see WWE Superstar,” consumers will have access to his popular “I’m Awesome” entrance t-shirt, as well as one of his trademark business suits. Consumers interested in WWE ’12 for the Wii™ system from Nintendo will automatically receive The Rock as a playable character, as well as The Miz’s alternate entrance gear options, as part of their purchase.
WWE ’12is currently in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation3 system and Wii, with a scheduled release date of November 22, 2011 in North America.

It hasn’t even arrived in town to start shooting yet, but Paramount’s mega-budget “G.I. Joe” sequel already appears to have a new release date and a new title.
Paramount Pictures officials said this week that “G.I. Joe: Retaliation“ – which had previously been referred to as “G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes” and set for an Aug. 10, 2012, release date – will now land on July 29, 2012, snapping up the release date recently vacated by J.J. Abrams’ delayed “Star Trek” sequel, according to multiple online reports.
Starring Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson and Adrianne Palicki, “G.I. Joe 2″ is set to gear up Aug. 15 for a three-month-plus shoot in New Orleans. It arrives as the biggest-budgeted film to shoot in New Orleans at least since Warner Bros. brought “Green Lantern” to shoot here in summer 2010.
Jon M. Chu (“Step Up 3D,” “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never”) is directing.

Following up on a tease he offered a few weeks ago, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson confirmed he will be present at the 2011 installment of WWE Survivor Series.
Set to confront John Cena to advance the WrestleMania 28 feud, Rock confirmed the return date on Twitter Monday.
“Cena fans: pls stop tweeting me to stop being “mean” to John. If u think I’m mean now, just wait til Survivor Series in NYC,” wrote Johnson.
Survivor Series takes place this November at Madison Square Garden. Cena later took to his twitter in response:
“Dear Dwayne, excited that you are thinking of attending Survivor Series in MSG,” Cena wrote. “You can buy your ticket on September 10th.
