Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has announced that DeRay Davis, recently seen in Jumping the Broom, has joined the cast of G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation. We don’t know the role he’s playing, but the Rock’s tweet read:

“On set now. We’re all waiting for ONE actor: @DeRayDavis. Very late. Time to get ya ass whupped son..”

Director Jon M. Chu has already secured Dwayne Johnson (obviously) as Roadblock, Ray Stevenson as Firefly, RZA as Blind Master, and Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, with Channing Tatum, Ray Park, and Byung Hun-lee returning from the first film. Bruce Willis plays ‘original Joe’ General Joe Colton. The film is scheduled for June 29, 2012

According to THR:

Taylor Lautner and Dwayne Johnson could end up being David and Goliath if Relativity has its way.

The two actors have been offered the title roles in the company’s Goliath, which is described as a period action movie made with contemporary sensibilities but based on the Biblical tale.

Director Scott Derrickson is helming while Ryan Kavanaugh of Relativity as well as Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill are producing

The early talks have not yet progressed into full-blown negotiations, as financial issues have gotten in the way. Both actors command upwards of $10 million in asking prices, depending on the project, so talks could end with a slingshot to the head before formal negotiations even begin.

Relativity is eyeing other casting options in case the scenario goes south.

As Heat Vision wrote when breaking the news of Derrickson boarding, “The story is set in motion when the fierce warrior Goliath is sent to track down a foretold king of the Israelites. A young shepherd David is thrust into an epic chase and adventure fighting for his own life, the lives of his loved ones and eventually the lives of his people. The story climaxes in a battle of literal Biblical proportions between the young man and the giant sent to destroy him.”

Lautner is about to test his non-Twilight appeal with Abduction, the action thriller which Lionsgate opens September 23, while Johnson is coming off the mega success of Fast Five.

NBC is getting in the ring with a put pilot commitment to a drama about the 1980s professional wrestling boom that is executive produced by one of the biggest ’90s wrestling stars, Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock. The fictional drama set in the world of wrestling in the ’80s hails from Bruckheimer TV, marking a departure from the company’s signature brand of procedurals. It will be written by Brent Fletcher and Seamus Kevin Fahey (Spartacus: Gods of the Arena), who will co-executive produce alongside KristieAnne Reed. Johnson, Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman are executive producing.

It was report on August 9th that Bruce Willis had entered into negotiations with Paramount Pictures to portray original army hero General Joe Colton in director Jon M. Chu’s sequel G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation.

Today, co-star Dwayne Johnson, who portrays Roadblock in the movie, confirmed via his Twitter account that Bruce Willis has officially joined the cast. Here is what the former wrestler had to say.

“Welcome brother Bruce Willis to the cast of G.I. Joe! What an honor.”

G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation is currently in production, shooting this month in New Orleans. Expect more set photos soon.

G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation comes to theaters July 29th, 2012 and stars Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, Elodie Yung, RZA, D.J. Cotrona, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson. The film is directed by Jon M. Chu.
